President thanks Netherland for assisting health sector in Sri Lanka


President Maithripala Sirisena thanked the Netherlands for continuous assistance given to improve the health sector in Sri Lanka. He made a special reference to two modern hospitals being constructed in Hambantota and Nuwaraeliya with the Netherland’s assistance.

He made this comment when the outgoing Netherlands Ambassador W M Piet paid a farewell call on President Sirisena at the President’s official residence today (June 23).

The Ambassador praised the efforts taken by President Sirisena to strengthen democratic values in Sri Lanka and said he noticed that the Sri Lankan people enjoy a new freedom since Presidential election in January 2015.

Norwegian Ambassador Grete Lochan, who is completing her assignment in Sri Lanka in July this year paid a farewell call on President Sirisena.

Ambassador Lochan said that during her visits to different parts of the country she saw a new freedom among the people and the people of all communities have confidence in President Sirisena.

President thanked her for the services rendered during her tenure to promote bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Norway.
