Government won’t take any decision that would harm local & export markets – President


President Maithripala Sirisena says as a government he would not take any decision that would harm the local market and the export market.

He said his government policy is to extend higher patronage for local productions and local industries. He also pointed out that the private sector should act strongly in the export sector. “The Government should have a key policy to strengthen the private sector”, he said.

The President made these remarks at an opening ceremony of a new factory built in Raigama, Bandaragama by Uswatta Confectionary Pvt. Ltd today (Aug. 15).

President Sirisena stated that the strength of the treasury and the national economy depend on the strength of the local production. He emphasized local production was not given priority during the past.

The President had cordial discussions with the staff of the factory, after opening it. He also inspected the factory premises.

Managing Director of the factory Mr. Quintus Perera also participated at this event.
