Sports Minister Johnston Fernando has appointed former Sri Lankan cricket captain Michael Tissera as the new chairman of the four-man Selection Committee for the national team.
A former head of selectors Tissera is the current Vice-Chairman of the BCCSL Interim Committee. Tissera, a celebrated cricketer and national captain before Sri Lanka gained test status, led the national team at the inaugural World Cup in 1975 in England.
The other members of the new selection committee are past test cricketers Don Anurasiri, Roger Wijesuriya and Mahesh Gunatilake.
