Udanthi in ITF Junior Tennis girls’ finals

Sri Lankan born Udanthi Narahenpitage of France entered the girls’ finals

At the Nineteenth ITF Junior Tennis Championship at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts at Greenpath, Colombo, Wednesday.

Udanthi booked a place in the girls’ finals by beating Vandana Murali of India 6-3,6-1.

Earlier, Udanthi created a major upset when she beat the 2nd seeded Eriko Wada of Japan 2-6,6-0,6-0. Playing from a set down, she fought with determination and spirit using powerful cross-court shots to overpower her opponent in the next two sets and take her place in the semi-finals.

Nine countries - France, Great Britain, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India and Sri Lanka - are taking part in the 19th ITF Junior Tennis Championship.
