Unseeded Udanthi Narahenpitage of France won the girls’ singles of the 19th ITF Junior Tennis Championship, in Colombo on Friday.

The Sri Lankan born Udanthi created the biggest upset by beating the top seed Nanditha Chandrasekar of India in an easy two-setter at the National Tennis Centre in Colombo.  Udanthi had no difficulty in defeating the favourite top seed 6-2, 6-4.

With her powerful strokes, Udanthi took the first set but the Indian Nanditha played a more careful game in the second set to get a 3-1 lead. But the French girl fought her way back into the set with carefully placed shots to snatch the set and the match away from the Indian.
