Sri Lankan Tennis Association [SLTA] for the first time in its history has been chosen to host the Men’s Futures Tennis Championship in Sri Lanka. This world-ranking tournament is scheduled from March 4 to 10 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts. Boshan Dayaratne Chief Executive of the SLTA said “We are expecting world class players to take part in this tournament and hope to host more international tennis tournaments in future.” Trans Asia will be the official hotel for the Championship. The competition is open to players ranked within the 100-200 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) world rankings. The year 2001 closed with some remarkable performances in the Sri Lankan tennis arena form teenagers Franklin Emmanuel and M.S Nishendra at the All India Championships last week. The young duo won the under 14 national doubles title for the first time.
