The Australian Indoor cricket team will arrive in Colombo today. Australia, the current indoor cricket world champions will play three international Test matches against the Sri Lankan team beginning Tuesday.

In 1970 Australia was the first country to play indoor cricket.

The first world cup was held in England in 1995 where the Australians emerged winners. The Australians repeated the feat in 1998 when it was held in Australia and again in 2000 when it was held in South Africa.

The Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association (CICA) made their maiden trip to Australia last year.

CICA, a fully-fledged member of the world body for indoor cricket has planned to build indoor cricket stadiums in Kurunegala, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Galle.

Sri Lanka will host the indoor cricket world cup in the year 2004.
