Sri Lanka wicket keeper Kumar Sangakkara strode into the record books, becoming the highest individual run-getter ever between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and only the sixth wicket-keeper batsman to score a double century

The 25-year old left-hander became the second Sri Lankan wicket keeper to achieve the feat of scoring a double hundred following Brendon Kuruppu’s 201 against New Zealand on debut in 1986/87.

He missed beating the highest score by a wicket keeper in Test cricket by just three runs, failing short of the 232, scored by Andy Flower last year.

On the second day of this Asian Test Championship final, Sri Lanka was sitting pretty, at 470 for five - their lead already a huge 213 runs.
