Sri Lanka beat Canada by nine wickets in the ICC World Cup 2003 Pool B match yesterday at Boland Park, Paarl. Playing in their third match, Sri Lanka restricted the Canadians to just 36 runs, the lowest total in any one-day international. The Sri Lanka team is on top of Pool B with 8 points having won their two previous matches against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Canada beat Bangladesh by 60 runs in their opening game. After Sachin Tendulkar’s 81 had steered them to 255-7, India bowled out host Zimbabwe yesterday for 172 in 44.4 overs to win the match and stay in contention for a place in the Super Six. England beat Namibia by 55 runs in the World Cup group A match at George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. Sri Lanka plays Kenya on February 24.
